NOMINATIONS OPEN FOR CDS 2006 AWARDS

Each year the Community Development Society presents awards to members and non-members in recognition of outstanding contributions to and achievements in the field of community development. The awards are presented at the annual conference to draw the public's attention to the field of community development. This year's award winners will be presented in  St. Louis , Missouri on June 28th, 2006 during our annual conference.

We are accepting nominations for the CDS 2006 Awards. Award nominations must be electronically mailed or postmarked by March 1, 2006.

Duane L. Gibson Distinguished Service
This award is presented to a Community Development Society member in recognition of superior and long-standing service to the field of community development, and, in particular, work for the advancement of the Society. Current officers and Board members are not eligible for this award.

CD Achievement
Presented to a CDS member in recognition of his or her outstanding contribution to community development. The person may be recognized for teaching, research, programming, administration or any combination of these roles.

Student Achievement, Research
Presented to a Community Development Society member who is either an undergraduate or graduate student, in recognition of his or her contribution to community development through a paper, an article, a field project or internship, or other applied research.

Friend of CD
This award is presented to a person who is not a Community Development Society member, but who has made a significant contribution to the field of community development. This contribution could have been accomplished through her or his role as author, educator, administrator (public or private sector), community organizer, or elected or appointed official.

Outstanding Program
Presented to a Community Development Society member or a group in recognition of his/her outstanding program utilizing the principles of good practice as adopted by the Society. All Community Development Society members are eligible for this award. One (1) Outstanding Program Awards may be bestowed each year by the Society.

New Professional
Presented to a Community Development Society member in recognition of a superior contribution to the field of community development and the Society.

Innovative Program
Presented to a Community Development Society member or a group in recognition of a superior innovative program using the principles of good practice as adopted by the Society.

Outstanding Research 
Presented to a Community Development Society member or a group in recognition of completion of superior research which exemplifies and positively influences community development practice. The award will recognize research which reflects the Principles of Good Practice throughout the research process.
